This salad isn’t for the faint hearted! It’s spicy, tangy and super tasty. Very quick to prepare and you can make it a couple of hours in advance. Continue reading Spicy Prawn Salad
Tuna & Egg Salad
With four consecutive family weddings, I haven’t had much time to post any new recipes. But rest assured, we had plenty of good food at the weddings. I also stuck pretty much to spicy south-Indian curries and lots of rice for meals at home with our visiting family. Continue reading Tuna & Egg Salad
Chicken Banh Mi
One of my favourite things when eating out is the Vietnamese Chicken Bahn Mi. It’s a light, crunchy baguette style loaf filled with lots of pickled vegetables, grilled chicken and fresh herbs. The Bahn Mi is incredibly tasty and explodes with flavours, unfortunately it also hits the wallet pretty hard. If we have this a couple of times a week, we’re paying close to $100 per week just for sandwiches. Continue reading Chicken Banh Mi
Eggplant Pulao
This is a great vegetarian party dish. Really quick to throw together, the end result is super tasty, fragrant and very rich. I served it with my granny’s tomato pachadi. Continue reading Eggplant Pulao
Granny’s Tomato Pachadi
My granny makes tomato pachadi as a side dish for biryani. It is a match made in heaven. Spicy rich biryani, with a sweet tangy jam-like chutney. Yum! Continue reading Granny’s Tomato Pachadi
Murungai Keerai Parappu (Drumstick Leaves & Lentills)
Preparing murungai keerai can be a pain in the you-know-what. But it’s so worth it. Here’s another quick recipe. Continue reading Murungai Keerai Parappu (Drumstick Leaves & Lentills)
Bagara Baingan (Whole baby eggplant curry)
I’ve been in a bit of a cooking funk lately and have been feeling a little uninspired in the kitchen. I figured the best way to shake it off is to cook up recipes I would normally never be interested in. One of those recipes is Bagara Baingan. It just seemed like too much work for 6 little eggplants. Continue reading Bagara Baingan (Whole baby eggplant curry)
Murungakai & Munthiri Perattal (Drumsticks & Cashew nuts Fry)
I was getting a little bored of the usual way I cook drumsticks and was actually dreading preparing them for dinner today. In the end I decided it was time to rock things up a little. Don’t get me wrong, my mother in law’s eggplant and drumstick recipe is absolutely lovely, but we really needed a change. I thought I would make it South Indian style and it turned out really well. Continue reading Murungakai & Munthiri Perattal (Drumsticks & Cashew nuts Fry)
Capsicum and Onion Pakoras
Ohh…what do you do when it is raining, dark and gloomy? You make chai and pakoras of course! Continue reading Capsicum and Onion Pakoras

I spent the entire day clearing out the fridge as we’re going away for the weekend (yay!) Continue reading Cucumber & Mint Salad
