Making kale chips is not complicated and the method is a great way to use up salad greens lying around in the back of your refrigerator.
I even make lettuce chips…spinach chips..any green leafy vegetable really. I would recommend using a pizza or chip pan, the holes in the tray help ensure even cooking. But if you haven’t got one of these pans, no dramas! Use whatever you’ve got!
You’ll need:
- 1 bunch kale leaves (remove stem, tear leaves up into bite sized pieces)
- 2-3 tablespoons good olive oil
- salt to taste
Method:
Pre-heat oven to 200 degrees. Mix all your ingredients. Reduce temperature of oven to 150 degrees. Arrange kale leaves in a single layer on your tray. Bake for about 10 minutes (keep an eye on the chips, they will burn very quickly). If you’re not using a chip pan, you’ll need to carefully flip the leaves over and bake for a further 5 to 6 minutes. You want them still fairly green but very crisp. Enjoy!
