I was getting a little bored of the usual way I cook drumsticks and was actually dreading preparing them for dinner today. In the end I decided it was time to rock things up a little. Don’t get me wrong, my mother in law’s eggplant and drumstick recipe is absolutely lovely, but we really needed a change. I thought I would make it South Indian style and it turned out really well. Capsicum and Onion Pakoras
Ohh…what do you do when it is raining, dark and gloomy? You make chai and pakoras of course! Continue reading Capsicum and Onion Pakoras
Basic White Bread
I’ve made this recipe so many times that I can’t believe I’ve never posted about it! It’s a really quick bread to throw together and the end result is an amazingly soft loaf or buns with a nice crusty exterior. This loaf makes for a very good sandwich. Continue reading Basic White Bread
Tiramisu Ice Cream
We have been invited to a friend’s place for a BBQ this weekend and I offered to bring dessert. I couldn’t make up mind between making Coconut Ice Cream or Tiramisu. I even sent text messages the hosts asking for their preference. But I still couldn’t settle on the dish I preferred more and I really didn’t want to make both (this was Mangy’s helpful suggestion). In a very rare state of affairs, I actually had all the ingredients at home to make both desserts which really didn’t help my cause. I wanted the flavours of Tiramisu, but the chilly creaminess of a nice homemade ice cream. Continue reading Tiramisu Ice Cream
Pandan & Coconut Chiffon Cake
Mangy goes nuts about chiffon cakes, so I make it fairly often at home. While I usually get a really nice fluffy cake, I struggle to reach the heights of store bought chiffon cakes. I tried tweaking my recipe in all sorts of ways with no luck. Until one night, I had a brain wave. Perhaps, my tin was simply too large for the recipe I was using? Chicken and Prawn Potstickers
I’m not a huge fan of potstickers, but Mangy loves them and will often order them at restaurants or buy packets of frozen dumplings to steam at home. We were grocery shopping recently and had a list in hand and were doing pretty well sticking to that list until Mangy spied a packet of Gyozas in the freezer section…and just like that he was like a three year old in the confectionery aisle.
