Beer hair rinse

I’m not much of a drinker and often struggle to finish a bottle of beer. My ego won’t let me give up either, so I’ll hold on to that bottle all night hoping I’ll get around to finishing it or that eventually everyone around me will get too drunk to notice.

Unfortunately, when we drink at home, it’s hard to be deceptive. The half full bottles of flat warm beer are evidence of my lack of drinking talent.

So I jumped online and started researching on different uses of flat warm beer, and here’s a good tip for shiny hair. While technically not a recipe, it’s still a fantastic idea.

I used 2 bottles of good chilled Corona as we didn’t have any flat beer lingering around when I found this tip, and I was too excited to wait for our next drinking session. I don’t think I’ll be doing that again, I didn’t realize how much Corona costs!

Here’s what I did:
Poured 2 bottles of beer into a 2 litre bottle and topped the rest with water to make it go further. I used about 500ml per rinse.

I shampooed and conditioned my hair as normal and then tipped 500ml of the beer mix on my scalp. I massaged the beer in for about 5 minutes making sure to get the ends too. Finally, I used the tiniest bit of conditioner on the ends and detangled with my fingers. Rinsed the beer out very quickly with coldish water and let my hair air dry.

I’ve read of others who didn’t wash the beer out, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to smell like a pub, although I’m sure my husband would love it.

I’ll also be posting a recipe for beer bread, so keep an eye out for that one.

  1. Shrm, you really should tweak this comment box. It lets me post as an anonymous person, but I want to put my name in – only i dont have any of the profiles it is asking for! Anu

  2. Hello Anon, nagging seems to work for me just fine. I prescribe 3 – 20 minute nagging sessions a day, that will get him so unstuck you might need to send out a search party to locate him.
